別添の募集要項をごらんになり、多くの若者に応募していただけると嬉しく思います。

募集期限:2017年4月14日(金)
*締切日に間に合うには4月13日(木)にはワシントンから送る必要がありま。

※海外参加者と青年リーダーの応募様式が異なりますので、
 誤った様式で応募しないように気をつけてください。

Dear Okinawa Kenjin Club Members! 

I have received the 2017 Junior Study Program Application forms from Okinawa Prefecture.   It is a great way for our young generations (13yo – 20yo: more details in the link below) to go to Okinawa and spend time with locals for a week or so.

The application deadline is on Friday, April 14, 2017, which means we must submit the application on Thursday, April 13, 2017 to get to Okinawa on that day.

2017 New Years Party update – President’s message

はいさい!遅くなりましたが、新年明けましておめでとうございます。

 2016年は、第6回世界ウチナーンチュ大会が行われ、本県人会からも総勢 150名が参加いたしました。また、26年以上もワシントン州沖縄県人会会長として県人会をリードしてきた佐久間氏が退任された年でもありました。佐久間前会長の貢献に心より感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。

さて、今年、2017年もすでに2月に入りました。来月3月11日(土)には毎年恒例の新年会が予定されております。ベイクセールも当日はやりますので、Bakeされたものをドーネーション(寄付)として会場に持って頂ければ幸いです。

 また、佐久間前会長の退任に伴う、新会長選出選挙も3月から4月にかけて予定されております。選挙につきましては詳細は後日正式なメールにてお伝えいたします。

 新年会につきましての情報は以下の通りです。

 ·  弁当(25ドル):メインの弁当と別ボックスで刺身がつきます。

·  当日弁当を余分に準備しておりませんので、ご希望の方は事前に必ず注文してください。弁当を購入されない方は、ご自身でお弁当を用意されますようお願いいたします。

Dear Okinawa Kenjin Club Members!

 A Happy New Year! I hope your 2017 has been going well for all of you!

We had many events in 2016, including The Worldwise Uchinanchu Festival in Okinawa, where we had about 150 members from WA attended.  Also our beloved former President Sakuma has retired from his duty.  His 26 plus years services to our organization lead us to become the one of the most attractive Japanese community groups in WA.  I would like to thank Mr. Sakuma for his dedication and the time he served as the President of our group. 

Now, we are in 2017!  We have our annual New Year’s Party coming up on Saturday, March 11th, 2017.  We do have Bake Sales so please bring your favorite baking items for donations to sell at the party!  

Also we are planning to have our election for the new president position in March and April.  We will send out the details information later on. 

 Here is the information on the New Years Party!

·  Lunch Box (Bento) – $25 Comes with the main lunch box with side sashimi box

·  We do not have extra lunch boxes on the day of the party so PLEASE make sure to order your Bento boxes prior to the party.  Otherwise, please bring your own lunch to the party!

2017 NEW YEARS PARTY

Okinawa Kenjin Kai New Years Party!!!

Date:  March 11, 2017 (Saturday)
Place: Seattle Buddhist Church 1427 S. Main Seattle, WA 98144
Time: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Please join us as we celebrate the new year with dance and music.  Friends and guests are all welcome.

If anyone is interested in participating or help in volunteering for this event, please contact Mia Slattum, who is organizing the entertainment program.

Families are encouraged to bring their own lunch during the program.  If you would like to pre-order a bento, please contact your area representative. 

This will be a good time to renew membership.  The fee is $20/per family.

2016 End of the Year Party

Tickets are now available for the End of Year Party.  Please join us as we reflect back on a fantastic 2016.  This year will be a buffet style dinner.  We will be singing and dancing as well as some bingo action for prizes.  Please contact area reps for tickets.

さて、今度の週末、9月18日(日)にタコマのAsian Pacific Cultural Center (4851 S Tacoma Way, Tacoma WA)にて、我らの誇る太鼓グループが「琉球ナイト」のイベントを開催いたします。沖縄からのインストラクターも来ておりまして、本格的なウチナーパフォーマンスを観れるいい機会です!ポットラックスタイですので、一品持ってきていただければ嬉しいですね!

I would like to announce that there is “Ryukyu Night” event hosted by Okinawa Taiko Group this coming Sunday, September 18th, starting at 5pm at Asian Pacific Cultural Center (4851 S Tacoma Way, Tacoma WA).

Some instructors are visiting from Okinawa and this will be a great show that you DO NOT want to miss!! We are so proud of the taiko group’s dedication to introduce Okinawan culture and tradition to not only OKK members but our communities in Greater Seattle area! Let’s show our support to them!
